Good option
I was used to guar gum as a thickener. While it has the same function, xanthan gum has worse solubility in whipped cream cheese. I used to use it to make desserts with fresh cheese, or for sweets, and I don't like the flavor it leaves. However, in savory recipes it is not noticeable at all and it works better than guar gum.
