Ashwagandha is a Sanskrit term, popular for Withania somnifera, also known as Indian Ginseng, since it has traditionally been used in this region with people having a predominantly vata dosha (Health Canada, 2019).
This product is suitable for vegan diets.

KSM-66® is made exclusively from a careful selection of the largest roots of Withania somnifera, since according to their quality research, these are the desirable parts of the plant.
They don’t use leaves or the smaller root fractions.
The entire cultivation and harvesting process takes place in the Indian state of Rajasthan, where the arid soil and climate conditions are optimal for growing the highest quality authentic Indian Ginseng.
The development of KSM-66® took no less than 14 years of research and development to refine the patented process Ixoreal uses to obtain its famous and reputable raw material.
The extract is characterized by being standardized to 5% withanolides, yet it is considered a 'full-spectrum'.
Ixoreal explains that the 'full-spectrum extract' is ideal, since most scientific research is done with ashwagandha roots that maintain a balance between the plant’s characteristic chemical constituents. Obtaining an extract with an extremely high % of withanolides can, according to the manufacturer, cause the loss of the plant’s natural substance balance.
The extraction process of KSM-66® is based on 'green chemistry' (green chemical), as its patented extraction procedure is carried out without using chemical solvents or alcohol.
KSM-66® is a raw material backed by a large number of scientific studies supporting its use.
Ixoreal Biomed states that no less than 22 human clinical trials, with the highest methodological quality, use KSM-66® to evaluate the effects of ashwagandha in their studies.
KSM-66® contains no Withaferin A, a type of withanolide that Ixoreal considers important to eliminate for reasons justified in their studies.
The practically nonexistent presence of Withaferin A and the guaranteed 5% withanolides content have been verified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) instead of gravimetry as other manufacturers do to measure extract constituents, since according to Ixoreal, gravimetry overestimates the withanolides content by up to 3 times.
