There is scientific evidence that HMB (a derivative of the amino acid Leucine) has muscle growth factors. I usually take one dose with my post-workout shake and another dose at night with dinner.

It is a recommended supplement of proven efficacy, both for increasing endurance and delaying age-related muscle loss. It is not instantaneous but dissolves well. The taste is slightly bitter but not hard to swallow. Mixed with flavored drinks it is not even noticeable.
