Saccharomyces Boulardii. It is the 'Original Probiotic'
Saccharomyces Boulardii 10B CFU by EssentialSeries is a food supplement in vegetable capsules, formulated with the bacterial strain (probiotic): Saccharomyces Boulardii, a milestone in the field of study and application of probiotics in the human diet for functional purposes. Our exclusive formula is supplemented with Vitamin A in the form of retinyl acetate (stabilised and bioavailable), for its overall synergistic action that enhances the product.
But first... A bit of history? Get to know this probiotic!
Saccharomyces Boulardii was discovered by a French microbiologist named Henri Boulard, who coined the name of the strain after its discovery in 1920, so this bacterium has been in use for almost a century. While on a scientific expedition trip to IndoChina looking for new bacteria, he managed to isolate Saccharomyces Boulardii from the skin of lychees, which was a major discovery and scientific breakthrough in the field of functional probiotics.
HSN brings you the authentic strain of Saccharomyces Boulardii in a convenient, safe, and effective format. Give it a try!

Saccharomyces Boulardii as the most resistant species
One of the advantages that Saccharomyces Boulardii has over many other probiotic species of common genera such as Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, or Streptococcus is that it is viable at room temperature. This means that without the need to be subjected to selective cultivation processes that could increase its resistance, Saccharomyces Boulardii can naturally withstand the temperature of the environment and the organism, with the internal temperature of the human body being the optimum point for the proliferation of this bacterium.
This is good news for anyone interested in using it as a probiotic, as it does not need special protective treatment to guarantee its effects. They are produced naturally with ingestion, provided that during the probiotic's treatment at an industrial level, the bacteria have not been killed by exposing them to temperatures higher than tolerable, something that we at HSN make sure does not happen, so you can use our product with complete peace of mind.
Bacteria-friendly probiotic powder treatment
The process of converting Saccharomyces Boulardii to powder is the most delicate of the whole process of making a food supplement with this bacterium. This is because it is a long and complex process, and also involves many heat-sensitive points which, if not properly controlled, can kill the bacteria. This means that regardless of the original amount and activity of the probiotic culture, the end result is much lower or even non-existent.
At HSN we do not employ cheap and fast spray-drying procedures, like most of the companies selling this probiotic do. However, as the temperature reached for this is above 50ºC and Saccharomyces Boulardii is no longer as resistant at this temperature, we avoid it.
We apply comprehensive treatment procedures, always with controlled temperature and with studies on the survival of the raw material.
As a result, we guarantee that at the end of our supplement's shelf life, the minimum functional amount of probiotic you will find is 10B CFU per capsule. Never less!
In vegetable capsules. Good environmental protection without gelatine
You may find probiotics with gastro-resistant, or enteric, glazing agents on the market, and if you're wondering whether this is a more effective way to use your probiotics, the answer is that it depends.
We sell probiotics with a protected coating, for example, our GI Biotics 25B CFU with DRCaps®.
However, there is no benefit to enteric coating if the environment to which the bacterium or bacteria are exposed does not affect their survival, and this is the case for Saccharomyces Boulardii. In fact, this is one of the reasons why it is considered the 'original probiotic' and a true 'all-rounder', as the acidic environment of the stomach and the heat of the internal environment of the gastrointestinal tract do not kill the bacteria, they remain fully viable and survive normally.
Saccharomyces Boulardii does not require gastro-resistant glazing agents.
In addition, our capsules are not made from animal gelatine, but from a vegetable cellulose derivative, making them suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.
Opaque container. Important to preserve probiotic CFUs!
Although it may not seem like an important factor, many food supplement companies market their probiotics in translucent packaging, which is hazardous to the survival of the bacteria.
Exposure to the sun, due to UV radiation, can damage the starter cultures, negatively affecting their survival and potentially ruining an excellent product after only 10 days of storage.
Our containers are opaque for a quality reason. In this way, we prevent light from coming inside the container, which is in optimum darkness for the preservation, not only of bacteria, as in this case, but also of most of the usual food supplement compounds.
A probiotic with vitamin A - Discover its properties
Our Saccharomyces Boulardii has been supplemented with a source of vitamin A (retinol acetate), which, in addition to being stable and providing an important nutrient to our body, has very interesting mechanisms of action in combination with probiotics.
Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.
