HSN liposomal iron: high dose and quality
Liposomal iron (LipoCellTech™) (30 mg iron) from EssentialSeries is a ferric pyrophosphate formula that has been liposomally encapsulated using patented LipoCellTech™ technology.
Each vegetable capsule provides more than 164 mg of liposomal iron. However, the amount of elemental iron it provides, which is the amount of the mineral you can absorb, is 30 mg. So there’s no need to be surprised by the amount shown. The product provides 164.8 mg of liposomal iron, of which 115.3 mg is the ferric pyrophosphate mineral salt (without the liposomal encapsulation), and of that, 30 mg is elemental iron (without the pyrophosphate).
A high-quality form of iron for optimal absorption.
Maximum absorption and effectiveness with LipoCellTech™ technology
Advanced liposomal encapsulation for optimal absorption
The iron liposomal encapsulation process involves enclosing the nutrient in a phospholipid bilayer to create liposomes, microscopic structures that protect the active ingredient. Unlike other production methods, where the encapsulation rate can vary between 10 % and 20 %, the patented LipoCellTech™ process guarantees an encapsulation rate of over 90 %, the highest on the market. This exceptional efficiency is achieved through an innovative production system designed to optimise the integration of iron into the lipid bilayer, ensuring an optimal result. This high level of encapsulation is monitored and confirmed through standardised efficacy tests that precisely measure the percentage of liposomes in the finished product. That’s how we can assure you that HSN liposomal iron is developed to the highest quality standards.
Greater bioavailability: iron your body can make the most of
Liposomal encapsulation significantly improves iron absorption because liposomes protect it from the gastrointestinal environment. Encapsulated in a phospholipid bilayer, the iron is protected from degradation by stomach acids and digestive enzymes, allowing it to reach the small intestine in an active, bioavailable form. The liposomal structure also helps it interact with cell membranes, promoting greater uptake of iron by the cells that need it. This mechanism not only improves nutrient absorption but also reduces the digestive discomfort associated with traditional food supplements containing high doses of iron by minimising direct contact with the walls of the digestive tract.
Optimal protection against degradation
Liposomal iron developed using patented LipoCellTech™ technology offers optimal protection against degradation thanks to its bilayer encapsulation. This system protects the iron from the external environment during processing and storage, as well as from stomach acids in the digestive tract.
LipoCellTech™ protection not only keeps the nutrient stable against factors that can cause degradation during storage, such as exposure to oxygen, moisture or temperature changes, but also extends the product’s shelf life by keeping the iron encapsulated and isolated from these external factors. Liposomal encapsulation acts as a physical and chemical barrier, preventing the mineral from oxidising or losing its effectiveness before you take it.
This ensures that the iron in the HSN liposomal product retains its properties until you take it, making the most of its potential as a quality food supplement: a hallmark of our brand.
Proven results thanks to liposomal innovation
Liposomal iron has been shown to be an innovative and superior form of food supplementation compared with non-liposomal iron thanks to its high bioavailability and stability, backed by scientific studies such as the one conducted by Montagud-Marrahi and colleagues (2020).

Iron without digestive discomfort: gentle on the stomach
Thanks to its liposomal system, liposomal iron is gentler on the stomach than other forms of iron supplements. This benefit comes from encapsulating the iron in a phospholipid structure that acts as a protective barrier. This technology helps prevent direct contact between the iron and the stomach lining, minimising the chance of common discomfort associated with conventional iron supplements.
What’s more, the liposomal form allows iron to be released more efficiently in the digestive system, helping it reach the small intestine, where absorption takes place. By reducing direct contact with the stomach, the product is not only more comfortable to take but also an appealing option if you want to add iron to your daily diet and have found that you’re sensitive to conventional iron supplements.
Packed with benefits: discover them
Iron is an essential mineral in human nutrition. The body can’t produce it, so you need to get it through your diet or food supplements. This mineral plays many fundamental biological roles, as it’s involved in various cellular structures and processes. Because of its role in metabolism, iron is a key mineral for the body, helping maintain the balance and function of systems essential to life. Iron supplementation is particularly important for people whose iron intake is low, such as vegans or those who don’t eat much red meat.
Iron:
- Contributes to normal cognitive function.
- Contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
- Contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin.
- Contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body.
- Contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
- Helps reduce tiredness and fatigue.
- Contributes to the process of cell division.
Doesn’t need vitamin C for absorption
Thanks to its liposomal technology, liposomal iron doesn’t depend on an acidic environment or the presence of vitamin C for absorption, unlike conventional iron. That’s because liposomal encapsulation protects the mineral and carries it directly to the small intestine, where it can be absorbed efficiently. This removes the need to create specific conditions in the stomach for proper absorption, offering a more practical, straightforward option if you want to supplement with iron without having to combine it with other nutrients.
What’s more, this means there’s no need to formulate the iron with vitamin C. While that’s a common HSN practice and highly recommended to ensure maximum quality and effectiveness, it may not suit people who already take supplements high in vitamin C.
FAQ - questions and answers
What’s the difference between liposomal iron and sucrosomial iron?
The difference lies in the structure surrounding the mineral. Liposomal iron is enclosed in liposomes, small vesicles with a phospholipid membrane. Sucrosomial iron, meanwhile, contains ferric pyrophosphate surrounded by a matrix combining phospholipids and sucrose fatty acid esters, forming a structure called a sucrosome. They are therefore two different formulation technologies.
How much iron does each HSN LipoCellTech™ liposomal iron capsule provide?
Each vegetable capsule provides 30 mg of elemental iron from 164.8 mg of LipoCellTech™ liposomal iron raw material. The amounts differ because the weight of the raw material includes both the iron compound and the components of the liposomal encapsulation.
Is HSN LipoCellTech™ liposomal iron suitable for vegans?
Yes. HSN LipoCellTech™ liposomal iron is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and comes in vegetable capsules. It also contains no soya or lactose.
