I use them for long runs either by bike or mountain. With sweat you lose liquid and salts and with water you don't replenish those salts. Not only do I take them for possible cramps, but also for the downs you get from not being well hydrated. I usually take one every hour or hour and a bit. I don't go out without them and even less now with the beginning of the hot weather. Good product and very effective.
