Breast milk is an exceptionally nutritious food, biologically designed to meet all the needs of a newborn, as it contains the ideal protein ratio required for optimal development. During breastfeeding, the infant's body experiences the most significant anabolic period in human life, characterised by rapid growth and tissue development, such as muscle mass. This process is driven by the nutrients in breast milk, notably its proteins, which are present in a specific ratio.

They conclude that, although the protein ratio in breast milk varies slightly during the breastfeeding period due to changes in colostrum production, an average protein ratio of 35/65 can be established.
